Story

"Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day".

And this is why myself (Kev Hooper - age 36, professional boxer and ex English national boxing champion), and other Fight Ministry Boxing Academy club members (Levi Giles - age 24, professional boxer with 8-0 wins, Dave Edwards - age 20, one of our club's carded boxers, Andy Sorensen - age 45, one of our club members who has boxed most of his life) are taking on a challenge for this worthy cause, to raise money for this charity that is so close to our hearts . What we are doing to raise funds is to run 4 miles every 4 hours over 48 miles. It's gruesome and tough, and will be very challenging at times but we know by supporting this very worthy cause it will help push us through to the end of our challenges .

What we would also like to do for the Fight Ministry Boxing Academy is to raise some funds in our hour of need too. The gym is suffering massively due to being closed and we need to raise funds to keep our club afloat so we can all have a gym to get back to when all of this craziness is finally over. If you would like to donate to our boxing club could you please do so with cash donations directly to the gym. Please contact myself (Kev) for more details on how to do this.

Thank you all so much for your support and please donate whatever you can to both the Anthony Nolan Trust and to Fight Ministry Boxing Academy .

One last thing, please take the time to read the important Coronavirus information from The Anthony Nolan Trust, thank you:

 CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY APPEAL

Patients’ lives are depending on us, now more than ever. Which means we’re depending on you.

The coronavirus pandemic means we’re all dealing with anxieties and frustrations, but for blood cancer patients who can’t wait any longer for a stem cell transplant, this time is absolutely critical.

So, we’re pulling out all the stops. But we urgently need your help.

At Anthony Nolan, we’re taking immediate action to ensure lives are saved. From increased health checks on our donors, to battling with travel restrictions and border closures to ensure cells get to the patients who desperately need them to survive.

We need to raise an extra £10,000 every month that the coronavirus pandemic goes on to fund this work. Which is why we’re asking you to please donate whatever you can to save more lives.

Without this support, we wouldn’t be able to respond to urgent and evolving situations. We’ve already created an emergency ‘Handover Hub’ at Heathrow Airport, open 24 hours a day, to enable international couriers who can’t go into hospitals due to quarantine rules, to handover donated stem cells to one of our UK volunteers for the final lifesaving leg. But we need to do more.

Our teams are working around the clock to keep stem cell donations moving to save patients’ lives. Please donate whatever you can today to our Coronavirus Emergency Appeal to keep this vital work going.

These are extraordinary times. But right now, there is something just as extraordinary you can do to help by donating to our appeal. Without you, there is no cure. Thank you.
